Safely Re-Opening Your After School Program, Becoming a Distance Learning Hub and Closing the Digital Divide for Our Youth
In this workshop participants received valuable information and resources on how to safely re-open facility Learning Centers for their youth residents. This workshop was presented by:
• Moderator: Diego Espinoza, Pacific Southwest CDC
• Erin Hogeboom, SD for Every Child
• Tracey Bridges, Wakeland Housing and Development Corp.
• Yesenia Resendiz, Wakeland Housing and Development Corp. and
• Soraya Cordero, Wakeland Housing and Development Corp.
Participants were able to hear about how one organization safely re-opened their after school program (ASP) and also were able to set up some Distance Learning Hubs to benefit students who have been most affected by COVID-19. Participants also learned how to best help their youth residents and families secure necessary technology in order to have needed access to Wi-Fi and online programs. The goal of this workshop was to ensure that resident staff had necessary tools to make sure that those staff could help families with school aged children to succeed in what has continued to be a difficult time.
