LISC Sponsored Roundtable – February Modular Housing
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a conversation with our February roundtable panelists Rick Holliday the CEO of Factory OS, Matthew Winter, LEED AP and Director of Mixed-Use, LPA, INC. Marc Gould, Principal, Meraki Pacific, LLC and Geoff McMillen, LEED AP, Preconstruction Manager of Cannon Construction South. Our moderator was Bree Wong, Principal at Meraki Pacific, LLC.
Rising construction costs are often cited as a critical part of what is causing our housing crisis so modular housing is one of the new innovative ways to bring down costs. We discussed what these “outside the box” ideas have that benefit affordable housing and doesn’t, and what we can expect to see over the horizon.
Our audience truly appreciated the chance to interact with professionals working on modular on a face to face basis. They were able to voice their concerns and questions that they had regarding modular housing and construction.
This session was attended by 30 professionals of varying backgrounds within the affordable housing sector such as developers, city and county staff, consultants, lenders, and equity investors.
Best practices, innovative budgeting, and sometimes surprise costs not considered in building like plumbing and electric that come into play with modular were discussed.
