RSSN: Beyond Cultural Competency
This engaging workshop took participants a step beyond just your average cultural competency to understanding the importance of cultural humility. Attendees participated in both a lecture and experiential activities that helped to uncover their own personal biases and to further understand how those biases have influenced their decisions and interactions with others.
This was a very engaging and vulnerable session led by Dr. Sheri K. Parker, LCSW. Dr. Parker is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of professional experience in the field of mental health. Her current work is focused on inclusion, equal access, and mental wellness for historically marginalized populations. She led with personal stories of her own failings so that participants had a chance to reckon with their own.
A recording is available upon request.
